Paloma Yáñez Serrano is a PhD Researcher in Social Anthropology with Visual Media at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on labourers’ embodied adaptations to industrial agriculture and changing landscape in Almería, in southern Spain. She is an award-winning independent ethnographic filmmaker and social anthropologist, interested in the methods of adaptation humans develop to address the changing environment, technology and political conflicts. Currently, Paloma is working for the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology at Adam Mickiewicz University, as part of the EmCliC project „Embodying Climate Change”. In this project, Paloma is responsible for conducting ethnographic research through participant observation and focus groups, in Madrid. She is particularly interested on local manifestations of resilience mechanisms, as well as the networks of support that help communities cope with thermal stress. Website: bigtreecollective.com
