Alumni

Alumni and graduates of Poznań Ethnology form a large and colourful community. Their occupations, professions and passions beautifully reflect the diversity of our discipline. Therefore, most of our graduates can be found in the cultural, scientific, educational, artistic, media and administrative sectors. Many have also successfully engaged in the non-governmental sector, heading associations and carrying out excellent civil society activities. Significantly, graduates of ethnology and cultural anthropology are successfully pursuing their careers in Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ukraine, Australia and Germany.

“Ours” work in diplomacy as ambassadors and consuls, manage cultural institutions, museums, are recognized journalists (with the title “Journalist of the Year”) and reporters for the press, radio and television, many of them run their own businesses dealing with handicrafts or, as it were, modern advertising. Marek Gawęcki was Polish ambassador to Kazakhstan. Jarosław Rosochacki is the General Honorary Consul of Albania in our country. Elżbieta M. Goździak is a director at the Institute for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown University in the USA. Alicja Hławka is president of the association and animator of the Forest Kindergarten. Dionizy Piątkowski has headed jazz music festivals for years. Katarzyna Wala animates local Poznań communities and creates urban events. Piotr Andrusieczko is a foreign reporter for “Gazeta Wyborcza”. Natalia Walkowiak is a director and co-owner of a renowned publishing house Zakamarki. Włodzimierz Rybicki is the editor-in-chief of the etnologia.pl portal and a reconstructor and expert on Native American cultures. Olga Stobiecka-Rozmiarek, on the other hand, is an intercultural education trainer and the head of Imaginarium Edukacja i Rozwój.

The alumni community is part of the community which has grown around the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. It is thanks to it that the cyclical Alumni Conventions and other meetings aimed at integration and mutual learning take place.
